冬奥会

Child: Look, the Winter Olympics mascots.

宝宝：看，冬奥会吉祥物。

They are so cute.

Mom: Yeah, you know their difference?

妈妈：嗯，你知道他们的区别吗？

Bing Dwen Dwen is the mascot of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics,

冰墩墩是北京2022冬季奥运会的吉祥物，

and Shuey Rhon Rhon is the mascot of the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Winter Games.

雪容融是北京2022冬残奥会的吉祥物。

Child: I see. When we get home, can we watch some games?

宝宝：明白了。咱们回家以后能看比赛吗？

Mom: Sure!

妈妈：当然！

? Short-track speed skating and speed skating 短道速滑和速度滑冰

Mom: There is another winter team sport called curling.

Curling is a strategic sport in which players throw curling stones on ice.

Child: This is kind of slow.

宝宝：这个有点慢。

Mom: Yes, but its full of excitement and suspense once you get to know the rules.

妈妈：是的，但是你知道规则以后，会觉得它充满激情和悬念的。

? Luge, bobsleigh, and skeleton

雪橇、雪车、钢架雪车

Mom: Lets watch some sliding sports – luge, bobsleigh, and skeleton.

妈妈：咱们看一些滑行项目吧——雪橇、雪车和钢架雪车。

Child: Cool, they are like sliding down a big slide.

宝宝：太酷了，就像滑大滑梯一样。

Mom: Yes, but a much harder one.

妈妈：是的，但是是难好多的滑梯。

Actually, can you tell the difference of the three?

Child: Sure. You lie on your back on a luge,

跳台滑雪是沿跳台下滑，然后跃入空中飞行一段距离。

And freestyle skiing is performing tricks in the air or on the snow.

? Snowboard 单板滑雪

Mom: We also have snowboarding -

instead of using two skis,

athletes use one snowboard to slide down the slopes in various positions.

and we havent talked about Nordic combined and biathlon yet.

咱们还没说北欧两项和冬季两项。

Nordic combined includes ski jumping and cross-country skiing

北欧两项包括跳台滑雪和越野滑雪，

which we have already talked about.

咱们刚才已经说过了。

Biathlon, also known as "war on snow,"

冬季两项又称“雪地上的战争”，

is a sport that combines cross-country skiing and shooting.

是将越野滑雪和射击结合在一起的运动。

Child: Good, I think Ive watched enough TV.

宝宝：很好，我想我已经看了不少电视了。

Can you take me to the rink today?

你今天能带我去冰场吗？

Mom: Sure thing!

妈妈：当然！
